Wikipedia in the light of recent controversies

  • over copyright infringement (the inclusion of a articles from a former East German encyclopedia into the German Wikipedia)
  • over intentionally inserted disinformation (the Seigenthaler case)
  • over self-serving manipulations (the editing of articles about members of the American congress through their offices)
  • over privacy rights (the debate "Tron vs. Wikipedia" in Germany)

Are those controversies based on misunderstandings of the Wikipedia process, or does Wikipedia need

  • an ethic code / a Netiquette
  • a version tracking system similar to the Linux kernel that makes each piece of the work trackable to its (unambiguously identified) author?

Possible Speakers

  • Representatives of Wikimedia Germany e.V.
  • Lawyer Friedrich Kurz (legal representative of Tron's family)
